Witness the humanitarian responses of UN agencies, including the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), World Health Organization (WHO), and the UN’s International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
Learn about common principles, rights, and duties governing humanitarian action as set out in the humanitarian charter, as well as the priority humanitarian interventions and minimum standards across various sectors of humanitarian work, with special emphasis on the health sector.
Learn about risk factors and prevalence of mental illness in refugees, including conflict-related traumas and psychosocial challenges of immigration and assimilation.
Devise a socially responsible response to a problem, or develop a sustainable plan, grant proposal, or research that responds to the need of your organization.
Share personal and professional experiences during weekly discussions and reflection sessions.

SIT internships are hands-on and reflective. In addition to completing the internship, you will submit a paper processing your learning experience on the job and analyzing an issue important to the organization you worked with, and/or you will design a socially responsible solution to a problem identified by the organization.
